The tool lists, to the Class restrictions tab, the number as well as list of classes that are utilised in the data model.

Click the title of the class restriction to open more specific details of the class, for example:

  • Name of the class restriction
  • Class restrictions prefix in the Data Vocabularies Tool
  • The long identifier, IRI address: the IRI address is a unique address for the class on the internet.
    • With the IRI address, the class can be used as a reference also outside the Data Vocabularies Tool in, for example, machine-readable interfaces.
    • Click the Copy to clipboard button if you want to save the IRI address on the clipboard of your computer.
  • Concept: the link to the concept in the Terminologies Tool.
  • Targets library class
    • Class of the data vocabulary, which forms the basis of the description of this class restriction.
    • Class restriction either restricts or complements the information of the core vocabulary’s class in this data model.
  • Utilises class restriction:Class restriction in another application profile which forms the basis of the description for this data model.
  • Technical description: Short textual description of the class and, for example, its usage case.
  • Attribute restrictions: A list of the attribute restrictions included in the class. Click the name of the attribute restriction to see further information.
  • Association restrictions: A list of the association restrictions included in the class. Click the name of the association restriction to see further information.
  • References: the drop-down menu shows a list of the resources that have used this attribute restriction.
  • Created: The date and time the class restriction was created.
  • Last modified at: The date and time the class restriction was last updated.
  • Work group comment:Comments and instructions for other users editing the information content of the class restriction. This field is only shown to the logged-in members of the same user organisation.
  • Contributors: Organisation(s) that own(s) the content and maintain(s) it in the Data Vocabularies Tool.


In the Action menu, you can edit a chosen class or its prefix. You can also delete a class.

From the Class restrictions tab, you can also:

  1. Copy the IRI-address.
  2. Add attribute restrictions to the class.
  3. Add association restrictions to the class.
  4. See the references to the class, i.e. the resources of the Data Vocabulary tool which have used this class restriction. The reference can be, for example, a class restriction of another application profile.
